Complete home makeover: remodeled 2-1/2 bathrooms; relocated laundry room from first floor to basement and installed bar and butler’s pantry where old laundry existed; repainted throughout using faux finishes and specialty wallpaper treatments; changed generic shelving and plywood cabinet faces to glass and raised paneled doors; reconfigured all closets for efficiency; ceramic tile floors with specialty tiled counters and baseboards.

Whole house remodeling project: We removed a wall that separated two rooms to create one Great Room; relocated the laundry which was adjacent to the Living Room to the basement which opened up a space to make a Butler's Pantry and bar area; we remodeled two bathrooms and a powder room, installed all new flooring throughout; all new wall colors throughout along with some faux painting details and hand-made paper wall covering; in the basement office we created coffered ceilings to break up the tunnel effect of a long narrow room and installed glass bookshelves. New lighting was installed throughout. We re-screened the back porch and installed new tongue and groove bead board on both the front entry and screened porch ceilings. The transformation of this town home was spectacular.

Whole house remodeling for former customers: Based on the customer's design, A+ Homework reconfigured the space in the basement and second floor by tearing out and re-framing much of the house. We created all new closets, replaced all the windows and casings and had 1400 lineal feet of a special base custom-milled to match existing baseboards. We also added crown molding, as well as all new lighting. We remodeled three full baths and a powder room, installed 1700 square feet of ceramic tile complete with thermostatically controlled heat mats beneath. Hardwood flooring upstairs. Custom designed built-in shelving in all closets.

The customer wanted a separate bathroom for pool guests; so we excavated away the side of their home and created a stone staircase and new entrance door to the basement where we installed an elaborate tiled bath and shower. We installed a new basement window as required by code in another basement bedroom. We reused leftover brick from a brick hearth we discovered in the basement, as a wall accent in the basement bedroom. All rooms were repainted and new carpeting was installed. A challenging but very gratifying project, the new homeowners were ecstatic with the results.

Another repeat customer. We replaced all the customer's patio door units and interior trim. We have painted over 75% of the home, and installed an elegant tiled back splash over the kitchen counters replacing the dingy Formica™ that existed before.

Schwentker House

  • Schwentker Deck

This deck was a fun project. It first started as replacing just the decking material with a lifetime warranted, composite product called Procell™. The new decking is very durable, and it looked so attractive next to the ratty, old, wood railings that A+ Homework was then asked to install new vinyl railings. The railings we used have aluminum extrusions in the inner core of the profile for a magnificently strong and beautiful railing system. The customers were also having problems with drainage up against their patio doors beneath their deck. We saw-cut the existing concrete slab, installed new drainage pipe and laid a soldier course of brick to finish it off. The combination of superior products and a careful installation makes this deck an entertainment showpiece.

Victorian Style House

The customers had a vision in their minds of what they wanted their front porch to look like. They also had a black & white photo of some Victorian gingerbread trim features they liked taken from an old magazine. A+ Homework spent many hours duplicating the designs they wanted by scroll cutting a material that would hold up to the test of time and never need painting. Stained mahogany decking was used along with a structural composite posts and a composite railing. Good design, great products, and a craftman's touch all came together in this stunning property. It is the talk of the town.

Basement remodeling is a large portion of our business with families trying to get exciting new living space for less cost than building a new addition. This basement is an excellent example of making the most of your basement space. We built a gorgeous bar area, a snazzy looking powder room and living area complete with a zero-tolerance gas fireplace which really makes the room nice and toasty on a cold winter night. A diagonal tile pattern accents the living room with a soldier course bordering the carpet. The combination of marble and granite created a stunning bar top, and the Polk Audio® sound system and dual HD TVs make this basement rock.

Recession Projects

Posted on February 27

In a recession, home owners often pull back on their renovation-type projects in order to save. We think the opposite! Now is the perfect time to improve your home without spending a lot of money. Because the market is down, many homeowners are holding on to their property. Therefore, putting money into what you have will only help to increase your property value for the future. Many stores are holding huge sales on materials, which is another great incentive to spend a little cash on your space. At A+ Homework, we recognize money is tight for everyone, so we are helping by providing some tips & tricks, a free consultation and support in-home renovations.
